Fires in Sarthe: How ADELIE System Technology Supported the SDIS 72’s Rapid Response

Press Review: April 2026

SDIS72 ROMAIN LEGUENNEC – April 26: Fires in Sarthe

On Monday, April 27, 2026, a threatening wildfire broke out in Cérans-Foulletourte, south of Le Mans. Thanks to the exemplary response of the Sarthe firefighters and the strategic support of the PARATRONIC video detection system, the fire was quickly brought under control, thereby limiting environmental damage.

A large-scale, coordinated effort

It was 6:10 p.m. that Monday when the alarm was raised: a forest fire had just broken out on Chemin des Préaux. As reported by France 3 Région, no fewer than 138 firefighters from numerous fire stations across the department (Cérans, La Suze, Le Mans, Sablé, etc.) and 51 vehicles were immediately dispatched to the scene.

The stakes were high: protecting the forests in a sensitive area located about thirty kilometers south of Le Mans.

5 minutes before the first call: Technology that enables quick response: The role of the ADELIE system

In situations like this, every minute counts. To optimize their response, the SDIS 72 was able to rely on PARATRONIC’s ADELIE video smoke detection system.

By enabling early detection and accurate verification, our automatic detection solution provides rescue operation commanders with a real-time view of the situation. In the case of Cérans-Foulletourte, this technology facilitated the coordination of the numerous resources deployed, making it possible to contain the fire after only 3 hectares (including 2.8 hectares of pine trees) had been affected, according to reports from Le Maine Libre and Ouest-France.

A stable situation despite extended monitoring

Although the fire was brought under control by Monday evening, vigilance remained essential. SDIS crews continued their operations throughout the night and into the morning of Tuesday, April 28, to “scrape” the ground and prevent the fire from reigniting.

At PARATRONIC, we are proud to partner with SDIS72 and provide cutting-edge technological tools that help firefighters protect our forests and communities on a daily basis. The speed with which this fire was brought under control proves once again that the combination of human expertise and technological innovation is the key to modern public safety.
