Focus on an innovative experiment in the Hérrault region, using PARATRONIC technology.
We focus on several press articles published in July 2025 on FireCatchers and Twitch. This focus illustrates how PARATRONIC's fire detection cameras for SDIS34 are being used to alert firefighters to potential fires in the Herrault department.
Every summer, forest fires take on dramatic proportions, particularly in the South of France.
In 2025, an unprecedented experiment was launched in the Hérault region of France: FireCatchers, a system that transforms Twitch, the streaming platform mainly used by gamers, into a veritable citizen watch network.
At the heart of this initiative are the ADELIE system cameras, designed by PARATRONIC, installed in strategic areas of the department to provide continuous surveillance.
The challenge was clear: firefighters need to monitor vast territories, but human resources are limited. FireCatchers came up with an original solution: take advantage of streamers' waiting screens to broadcast live images of forests at risk.
As a result, thousands of spectators became active observers. When a plume of smoke appears, it can be reported in the chat room. If several reports converge, an alert is transmitted to SDIS 34, which triggers the verification and intervention.
For this system to work, it needed reliable, continuously accessible, high-quality images. This was the mission of PARATRONIC's surveillance cameras, already present in the département, which were integrated into the FireCatchers system.

FireCatchers didn't just mobilize a community. It also taught viewers how to recognize the signs of a fire. Educational content accompanied the broadcast, helping to refine alerts and avoid false alarms.
In just a few days, over 600,000 people were reached via local streamers such as Aypierre, KRL stream and ZeSadPanda.
This project demonstrated that digital technology can go beyond entertainment to become a genuine tool for protecting life. Relying on PARATRONIC's ADELIE system technology and the power of online communities, FireCatchers has paved the way for new forms of connected vigilance.
At PARATRONIC, we believe that innovation comes into its own when it enhances civil security and helps protect our forests.
The ADELIE PARATRONIC system detects and locates forest fires covering 3 million hectares of forest in 9 départements: Sarthe (72); Maine-et-Loire (49); Charente-Maritime (17); Lot-et-Garonne (47); Landes (40); Aude (11); Hérault (34); Alpes-de-Haute-Provence (04) and le Var (83).

AI monitors forest areas with the ADELIE system: an early fire detection solution.
The ADELIE system, developed by PARATRONIC, uses multispectral cameras and artificial intelligence to continuously monitor forest areas. It detects smoke during the day and the glow of flames at night, and provides a precise location of fire outbreaks. The ADELIE system has been adopted by a number of French départements, and is designed to simplify and enhance surveillance of high-risk areas in natural environments.
