Monitoring of water in the natural environment
Further to the instrumentation of the "catches and rejections" by the Territorial Direction of Strasbourg, the personnel of VNF was trained with the use of the PARATRONIC materials (sensors, central of acquisition...). This training enables VNF to master the measurement network (40 equipped points) deployed by SADE Metz.
The VNF Territorial Directorate in Strasbourg manages several hundred kilometres of waterways, including navigable waterways and their intakes spread over the 5 departments of Bas-Rhin (67), Haut-Rhin (68), Moselle (57), Territoire de Belfort (90) and Haute-Saône (70).
In order to optimize the management of water resources, VNF decided to proceed with the instrumentation of about forty sites, namely :
- Canal de la Marne au Rhin (CMR), managed by the territorial unit of the CMR ;
- Canal du Rhône au Rhin Branche Nord (CRRBN), managed by the territorial unit Centre-Alsace ;
- Canal de Colmar, managed by the territorial unit Centre-Alsace ;
- Huningue canal, managed by the Rhine territorial unit;
- Canal du Rhône au Rhin Branche Sud (CRRBS), managed by the CRRBS territorial unit for the small gauge and by the Rhine territorial unit for the large gauge.
This instrumentation approach carried by VNF meets several objectives:
The installation of the water level and flow velocity measuring equipment was entrusted to the Messinian agency of SADE, which provided the following services:
On the various equipped sites, the level measurements are carried out by radar sensors PARATRONIC CR420 and immersed sensors PARATRONIC SNA. The speed measurement is carried out by ultrasonic sensors NIVUS NOS and Nivuflow, or by gauging (M. Hauter, Gestion Hydro).
On each site, the sensors are connected to PARATRONIC LNS low power acquisition units. The data transmission to the TOPKAPI supervisor is done either by ADSL or GPRS/3G.
LNS acquisition stations have been specially developed to meet this type of problem: monitoring of sensitive natural environments by sensors, data banking and transmission, triggering of alerts, etc.
