Fire monitoring
With global warming increasing the risk of fire, the SDIS 49 has acquired the ADELIE video-detection system, enabling it to detect and locate fire outbreaks rapidly, thanks to an automated network for monitoring natural environments.
In 2022, SDIS 72, already equipped with this system, was able to transmit an alert to SDIS 49 a few minutes before the first calls from callers, thanks to the detection on its cameras of two plumes of smoke in the Pugle forest area of Baugé-en-Anjou.

The presentation of the SDIS 49's new fire-fighting system is particularly significant given that August 2022 will be remembered for the 2,577 hectares of forest and vegetation ravaged by violent fires to the east of Angers.
The Sarthe department's SDIS 72, equipped with the ADELIE fire monitoring system, then alerts the Maine-et-Loire fire department 15 minutes before the first calls are made to 17.

In all, fifteen high points will be equipped, mainly water towers, to cover the entire territory.
At the top of each point, four cameras are installed, two of which detect smoke, while the other two are used to "raise the alarm", i.e. zoom in to make sure that a fire has started. They are operational at 360°, every day of the year.
"If detected, an alarm sounds and an alert message is automatically transmitted to the operator, based in Beaucouzé (Sdis 49 headquarters).
