The risk of forest fires is very high in the Hérault department, particularly during the heat wave.
Eric Flores, general controller and director of the SDIS 34: "We consider these fire risks by preparing ourselves. We are setting up our forest fire fighting system. The Hérault department has a complete system with watchtowers, cameras placed on the heights (including 13 cameras for the removal of doubt). "According to the department's services, 70% of the Hérault's territory is subject to fire surveillance, which represents an area of 3,780 km².
The ADELIE (Alert Detection Localisation) system is a forest fire monitoring system that detects the presence of smoke in the natural environment thanks to a unique image capture and processing principle.
